Wonderful and rare Sterling art deco ring with lapis, amazonite, and matte black enamel by Theodor Fahrner, circa 1930. Ring size is approximately 5 (perhaps a tad bigger), and the top measures 7/16" x 1" and is curved to follow the contour of the finger. The strong design features two custom cut stones, one blue lapis and one green amazonite, laid in a rectangular geomtric design featuring 3 zigzag channels filled with black matte enamel. There is a small nick along the edge of the lapis which is visible in the photo, but it is not noticeable. The inside of the band is signed: Fahrner hallmark (TF in a circle - worn, but discernable), 935. The ring is in very good condition with light overall wear from age/use. This design is pictured in the TF book as noted below.
Theodor Fahrner is Germany's best known jewelry manufacturer, and is highly collectible. Examples can be found in many books, especially the fabulous book devoted to Fahrner jewelry, Theodor Fahrner Jewelry... Between Avant Garde and Tradition. This design is pictured on page 220, plate 2.142 in the Black-White Contrast jewelry section (but the coloring of this piece is more like their Stereometric jewelry). It is a great example of the desirable and hard-to-find 1930s geometric jewelry produced by this firm.
