This is a wonderful pair (2) of handwrought Sterling silver dress or shoe clips by the Chicago arts & crafts silversmith, Bjarne. Each convex shield shaped clip measures 1 1/16" across and 1 9/16" long, and is finely hammered with an applied raised hammered decorative element. Each is marked on the reverse: STERLING HANDWROUGHT BY BJARNE. These clips are in very good condition with minor surface wear from age. They could easily be converted to brooches by a jeweler if desired. Not much is known about Bjarne except that he was a skilled Chicago A&C jeweler, and he may have produced jewelry for Gorham. His work is coveted by collectors of Chicago arts & crafts jewelry.
