Gorgeous Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau Sterling silver enamel necklace with fiery opals, probably English or American, circa 1910. The paper clip chain measures about 15" around the neck, with a series of 5 chains suspending an enameled pendant with 4 opals and 3 tiny opal drops. The enamel pendant measures 7/8" across, and is 1 1/8" from the top to the bottom of the center opal drop. It is 2 3/8" from the point of attachment of the middle of the 5 chains to the bottom of the center opal drop. The enamel pendant has hammered out recessed areas for the green and yellow enamel to pool, which can be seen from the back view. The 7 genuine solid opals are open to the back, and are very fiery with flashes of red, green, and blue (see additional photos for a better view of the opals, which are difficult to photograph). The 3 opal drops are bezel set, and they are most unusual since pearl drops are more common. The necklace is unsigned, but guaranteed to be Sterling silver. This is a beautiful & wearable piece in excellent condition.
